Ksenia Gets a New Heart

In 2013, RACF helps bring one-year-old Ksenia to Ohio for open-heart surgery.

But she’s too far gone.

A heart transplant is the only way to save her life.

After two years and three months of waiting, all the while supported by RACF, she is called in.

The operation lasts five hours – from two in the morning until seven. The family is touched that the surgeon allows their daughter to wear her cross during surgery. He says it’s as important to him as to the parents.

Ksenia celebrates her seventh birthday in the photo. Her new heart beats loudly and strongly as she blows out the candles on her cake!
